We meet monthly, sometimes at a member’s garden, to talk about, and demonstrate, if possible, what we should be doing at this time of year and other times we have an outing to see a public garden. Our annual programme is always decided by a general meeting of the members at the end of the year. We also undertake regular exchanges of plants, cuttings and seeds and information about gardens we have visited on our own.

We began 2026 with a Programme planned during our Christmas party. Several members volunteered to open their gardens for us or to organise a visit. In these gardens we look at a variety of gardening methods including dealing with soil difficulties, pond gardening, and growing fruit and vegetables. So far, we have also had outings to Gatton Park, Stafffurst Woods, Morden Hall and Coolings Nursery to look at snowdrops, bluebells, roses and to find out about growing on plug plants with an insight into the challenges growers face with environmental issues as well as working with the weather.

Future visits include, among others, Tanhouse Farm Garden in Newdigate, The Garden Room in Marsh Green and the Rectory in Bletchingley.

All activities have an element of risk. In joining this group, you accept that you are responsible for your own safety at all times.
