How to become a Member

Membership of the Caterham and District u3a is open to anybody who has retired from full-time employment.

As well as subject groups on specific topics, we also have other general social events for all members, for example talks, coach trips, quiz nights and a festive lunch. Hopefully there are Subject Groups which are of interest to you. We are always looking for volunteers to host new groups on any subject.

The current annual membership fee is £12. For some groups there may be an additional fee, for example when it is necessary to hire a hall. If you are already a full member of another u3a in the UK you may pay the reduced Associate Member rate of £9 pa.

Part of your subscription is passed to the Third Age Trust (the national organisation for the UK) and includes the cost of publishing the nationwide u3a magazine Third Age Matters every quarter. The first three issues published after you join are posted to you. We are also members of the Surrey u3a Network.

If you would like to join us, please use the online Application Form, fill in your details and submit it to us. Our preference is for you to pay by BACS please. Our bank details to do so are:

Sort Code: 60 04 35

Account Number: 11067721

Please use your name as a reference.

If you can't pay by BACS and would like to pay by telephone banking instead, please email Chairman Paul K. by clicking on the link.

Once we confirm your membership you will receive an invitation to a new members meeting where you can find out more about the wide range of groups, events and activities we offer.

Welcome to the u3a Caterham and District!

How to renew your Membership

We have introduced a new facility into the Beacon Database which enables you to view and update the details held about you on the system, it will also enable you to renew your membership by direct payment (if you have a PayPal account) or credit card.

To access this system, you need to create a u3a Beacon account (no charge is applied) and to do this you need to have your Membership Number, Forename, Surname, Post Code and e-mail address as stored on Beacon. The process is very simple and is set out in the Membership Renewals on Beacon document. For any help required on this, please contact the Beacon Co-Ordinator Andrew H

For any enquiries on membership please contact the Membership Secretary Rita D.
